Getting braces can be a nerve-wracking experience. You might be worried about them hurting, or nervous about how you're going to eat or what people might think. You know that you definitely want straighter teeth and the results from braces for teeth are fantastic but you’re not so sure about having to wear them for a number of months, it seems like a long time.

A number of people have worn different types of braces for teeth over the years, they're the most common Orthodontic treatment. There's no need to be worried or self conscious about braces, even some of your favourite celebrities once fashioned a set of them!

The next time you're feeling down about going to the Orthodontist remember some of these famous faces who have gone through the exact same thing.

1. Dakota Fanning

Dakota grew up in the spotlight and wore braces while it all happened. She was in movies and walked a number of red carpets wearing her braces.

2. Niall Horan

The One Direction star got braces to straighten some of his crooked teeth. He said that he never felt self conscious of them because everyone had them!

3. Zac Efron

Zac's perfect smile is credited to invisible braces for teeth and some whitening treatments. He once had a gap between his front teeth. Now his smile is flawless.

4. Miley Cyrus

Miley wore lingual braces for a number of years. Lingual braces for teeth are attached to the inside of the tooth rather than the outside making them undetectable.

5. Emma Watson

Emma, the star from Harry Potter, wore braces for four months in 2005, she said it was important because a "smile is for life".

6. Drew Barrymore

Drew wore braces as a child and has a perfect smile to show for it now.

7. Ariel Winter

The star from Modern Family wore braces growing up and even wore them on the show. Ariel was self conscious about having braces but says that she soon embraced them when she realised so many girls like her had them too.
